Is all publicity good publicity? No. At least not in my opinion. It has hurt the personal brand of Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot in ways that will be difficult to recover from. But Astronomer looks like it will come out ahead on this one. I looked them up and have been on their website multiple times to see if they took down the photos of the executives after they resigned. Yes…the team has been updated.
We now know what they do! We know about their analytics event in September thanks to Gwyneth Paltrow. And how clever was that to use the former wife of Chris Martin!! Someone has a sense of humor. In the meantime the interim CEO, Pete DeJoy, also did a nice job of making a statement about how they will continue to do what they do best…..”helping our customers with their toughest data and AI problems”. I would love to know how many new hits their website has gotten, if their September event sells out, and if sales increase.
And while I would not recommend encouraging your CEO to cheat on a Kiss cam gone viral….Astronomer might as well make lemonade out of lemons. And that they did!
